ORLANDO, Fla. (3/1/2022) -- Senior
James Hill was just outside the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team wrapped up its first tournament of the season at the Orlando Invitational on Tuesday.
Hill totaled a 223 (71-75-77) as he started the event with a 1-under 71. In the final round, he registered two birdies and 11 pars and topped the team with 39 pars in the event.
Sophomore
Alek Mauro shared 30th with a 227 (76-74-77) as he ended the event with two birdies and 10 pars on the final 18 and led the squad with eight birdies to go with 32 pars.
Graduate senior
Drew Tucci posted a 243 (79-82-82) and tied for 71st, ending with seven birdies, while sophomore
Ryan Sangchompuphen finished 79th after carding a 249 (82-81-86).
As a team, the Titans recorded a 941 (308-312-321) for 14th place.
The red, white and blue will be back on the course in two weeks when they compete in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate from Mar. 13-15, at Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tennessee.
