Renee Trotman hit her first home of the season going 1-for-3 with a RBI and run scored while graduate student
Leena Mortensen hit a combined 2-for-6 and as Detroit Mercy completed play at the Cardinal Invite with a 13-1 set back against Michigan State and 8-0 loss at host Elon on Sunday at the Elon Softball Park. Senior
Taylor Gauthier also hit her first double of the season going 1-for-2 with a walk against the Phoenix.

Kara Wolfbauer recorded her first hit of the season while senior
Taryn Peru also recorded a hit against Elon. Junior
Olivia Warrington also had two strikeouts while allowing only one earned run against the Phoenix in the circle for the Titans.
Game 1 vs Michigan State
• Both teams had only one hit each through two innings
• Spartans broke through with a RBI triple and sac fly to take early lead
• MSU added another run off sac fly in the fourth inning
• Mortensen had Detroit Mercy's first hit in the bottom of the second inning
• MSU broke the game open with four runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh to take a commanding 13-0 lead

Game 2 at Elon
• Detroit Mercy threatened in the first inning with the bases loaded but couldn't get a run across
• Guthier walked, Trotman reached on an fielder's choice and senior
Taryn Peru posted the first hit of the game
• Wolfbauer recorded her first hit of the season in the top of the second inning
• Elon got on the board first with a home run and two-run single in the bottom of the second
• Mortensen posted a single down the right field line in the third inning
• Gauthier led off the fifth inning with a double but the Titans couldn't get her home
• The Phoenix hung a crooked number with five runs in the bottom of the fifth for the 8-0 win.
The Titans continue their road swing with a doubleheader at Gardner-Webb on Tuesday, Mar. 8 starting at 2 p.m.
