HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. (4/26/2022) -- Senior
James Hill saved his best for last with another under-par performance as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team concluded the Horizon League Championships on Tuesday.
Hill shot a 1-under 71 to share 13th place with a 220 (74-75-71). It was his ninth round on the season of par or better. He started his round with a birdie on 10 and added birdies on 14, 17 and six, while also tallying 11 pars on the day.
Hill led the team with 34 pars and eight birdies in the event and was also tied for fifth on the par 5's with a -5, 4.58 average and tied for sixth on the par 3's with an even, 3.00 average. His 74.00 season average is tied for 10th in school history, while his career 75.86 mark is now 13th.
Sophomore
Alek Mauro was 39th with a 237 (79-81-77) as he ended his final round with 13 pars and a birdie, while graduate senior
Drew Tucci was 43rd carding a 243 (77-90-76), but posted four birdies and nine pars in his final collegiate 18.
Sophomore
Ryan Sangchompuphen registered his best round in the postseason with an 80 to place 45th with a 250 (85-85-80), while graduate senior
Bryce Douglas ended in 46th with a 251 (84-83-84). Sangchompuphen had 13 pars on the day and Douglas knocked in nine pars with a birdie.
As a team, the Titans were 10th with a 942 (314-324-304) at the par 72, 6,868-yard El Campeon course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
