DETROIT (4/5/22) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team has released the winners of its end of the year awards given out to student-athletes in several categories. 

Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Guy Murray '89 gave out five total awards to members of the men's cross country team; Most Valuable Player, Student-Athlete, Coach's, Rookie of the Year, and Most Improved. 

Dominick Taddonio MVP: Thomas Mueller
Student-Athlete: Oscar Hernandez
Coach's: Oliver Daniel
Rookie of the Year: Connor Joyce 
Most Improved: Nicholas Fringer

Mueller also garnered Horizon League All-Academic and All-Horizon League Second Team honors during the cross country season. The graduate student collected his fifth varsity letter in cross country during the team's award dinner. 

In addition to being named Rookie of the Year, Joyce tallied his first varsity letter for his efforts in the fall.
