
INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit Mercy softball utility student-athlete
McKenna Tanguay has been named to the Horizon League Softball All-Academic Team announced by the league office.
Tanguay, a senior from Trenton, Mich., holds a 3.92 GPA majoring in Special Education/Learning Disability. She has started in 29 of 30 games played and leads the team in home runs (5), doubles (6), runs scored (16), walks (15), slugging percentage (.467), total bases (50) and is tied for the team lead in hits (29). She also ranks second in stolen bases (3) and third in batting average (.271).
Earlier this season, Tanguay hit a blistering .455 going 5-for-11 with a home run, three RBI and two runs scored helping Detroit Mercy win back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 2-1 mark at Purdue Fort Wayne to claim their first #HLSB series. After recording a hit in Detroit's Mercy 3-2 series opening win, Tanguay belted a three-run home run while going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Titans to a 11-10 series clinching win. She also hit two home runs against UIC and has five multi-hit games.
For her career, Tanguay is a three-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection and three-time Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
