DETROIT (8/1/2022) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's cross country team will get ready for the postseason with five races as the Titans announced their 2022 schedule on Monday.
The red, white and blue will open the year with two close events as it competes in the Michigan Open at Hudson Mills Metropark in Dexter on Sept. 2 before hosting the 36th Annual Detroit Mercy Titans Invitational at Cass-Benton Park in Northville on Sept. 10.
The longest annual tradition in Titan history will start at 9:30 a.m. with the open 5k open men's and women's races. The Tommy Titan Future Legends Kid's Race - for kids 9 and under who run the final hill - will go off at 10:55 before the women's collegiate 5k race at 11:05 and the men's collegiate 4-mile challenge at 11:45 a.m.
After that, the Titans will run in another tradition in Notre Dame's National Catholic Championships in South Bend, Indiana, on Sept. 16 and the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic at EP "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky, on Oct. 1. The final race of the regular season has the team across the border in Ohio on Oct. 14 for the Falcon Invitational at Bowling Green.
The postseason starts with the Horizon League Championship on Oct. 29 at nearby Oakland, while the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships are set for Nov. 11 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. The NCAA Division I Championships will end the year on Nov. 19 at the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
