DETROIT (12/28/2023) -- Christmas is over and it will just be Horizon League action from here on out as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team will start the second round of league action on the road at IUPUI on Friday afternoon.
Game time is set for Noon at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum - the home court for the Horizon League men's and women's basketball championships - and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and the Watch ESPN App. Fans can also listen to a home audio radio feed on the net with the Voice of Detroit Mercy basketball Dan Hasty on the Michigan Sports network.Â
This is the 45th year of the Horizon League (1979-80) and the 44th with Detroit Mercy as a member, as the Titans are the eldest program in the league, while IUPUI joined the conference in 2018.Â
The game features two teams that have struggled to shoot from long range this year as the Titans are 10th in the HL and 327th in the nation with 5.3, 3-pointers per game, while the Jaguars are next to last in DI (350th) hitting just 3.4 per game.Â
The first 13 games saw the Titans (0-13, 0-2 HL) use nine different starting line-ups, with 11 different student-athletes starting at least one game. Senior
Jayden Stone is second in the Horizon League in scoring at 18.9 points per game, while
Marcus Tankersley is 17th at 13.5 ppg.
IUPUI is 4-9 on the season, with three wins against non-Division I teams. The lone DI victory was at Valparaiso, while the Jaguars are 0-2 in HL play, falling at Wright State and against NKU.
Following the game, the red, white and blue will stay on the road as it travels to Purdue Fort Wayne on Sunday.Â
ALL-TIME SERIES
