Matthew Schultz and
Alek Mauro were both in the top 25 as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team ended the regular season on Tuesday with the wrap-up of the Wright State Invitational.
The Titans will now get ready for the Horizon League Championship in Florida next week.
The Titans placed 10th overall, totaling a 939 (311-317-311) at the par 71, 7,075-yeard Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, Ohio.
Schultz posted a season-best 229 (74-78-77) to share 13th. He had 10 pars and a birdie in the final round and was second on the team with 32 pars with three birdies. He also played the par 3's to an even-par, 3.00 average, tied for the best in the event.
Mauro tied for 24th with a 232 (77-78-77) as he registered eight pars and three birdies on the day. He knocked in nine total birdies - second most in the tournament - and was tied for the fourth-best mark on the par 5's with a -3, 4.67 average.
Freshman
Vincent Levesque shared 46th with a 239 (77-82-80) as he tallied 12 pars in the final round and led the team and was tied for seventh among the competition with 33 pars.
Junior
Ryan Sangchompuphen tied for 51st with a 240 (83-79-78), while freshman
Austin Brancaccio took 68th after recording a 258 (83-96-79).
Making his Titan debut as a golfer after playing five seasons on the men's soccer team, graduate senior Bennett Brooks was 71st with a 295.
Detroit Mercy will now head down to the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida, for the HL Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event will start on Sunday and conclude on Monday at the par 72, 6,868-yard El Campeon course.
