The Titans add Kamari Forrest, Paris Gilmore and Makayla Jackson

DETROIT (4-19-23) – The Detroit Mercy women's basketball team has added three newcomers in Kamari Forrest, Paris Gilmore and Makayla Jackson announced Head Coach Kate Achter.
 
"We are very excited to announce our first full recruiting class," said Achter. "Our three signees really embody what it means to be a Titan both on and off the court. Fans will love watching them compete at Calihan Hall during the 2023-24 season."

Kamari Forrest (6-0) – G
Hometown: Saginaw, Mich.
High School: Saginaw
 
High School:
• Two-time All-Saginaw Valley League (SVL) First Team selection (2021-22, 2022-23)
• Two-time All-State selection (2021-22, 2022-23)
• Two-time team MVP
• All-Conference selection (2019-20)
• Scholar Athlete Award recipient (2022-23)
• Finished high school career with 1480 points
• Played four seasons for Team Lex and one season for the Michigan Storm
 
Coach Achter on Forrest: "Kamari is a versatile wing that has a huge motor. Coming from a Titan basketball family, she knows how to compete and will bring us size on the perimeter and a toughness around the basket."

Paris Gilmore (5-7) – PG
Hometown: Youngstown, Ohio
High School: Warrensville Heights
 
High School:
• Four-time All-Lake Erie League (LEL) selection
• Three-time All-District selection
• All-Region selection as a junior and All-State Special Mention as a senior
• Finished high school career with 1228 points – Game career high: 31 pts.
• Played for the WPA Bruins for three seasons helping the team to multiple championships, also played for the Sports City/Legends U for one season
• Leadership Academy participant
 
Coach Achter on Gilmore: "Paris is as competitive as they come. A true point guard with a scorer's mentality, she can really impact the game at a number of levels. Her desire to win coupled with her knack for scoring will be can't miss in Calihan Hall next season."

Hometown: Alexandria, Va.
High School: Bullis School

• Two-time Washington Post All-Metro Honorable Mention (2022, 2023)
• Two-time All-Independent School League (ISL) selection (2022, 2023)
• Career Ave: 17. 3 ppg, 6.7 reb., 2.4 assist, 2.7 steals – Game career high: 28 pts.
• Six-year member of the Fairfax Stars
• Helped Stars to a tournament championship and was named tournament MVP
• Four-time High Honor Roll selection (2019-23)
• 2023 National Honor Society member
 
Coach Achter on Jackson: "Makayla is mature beyond her years. She is a skilled combo guard that can really knock down shots and will bring stability beyond the arc to complement our post game. She is also a great decision maker with the ball in her hands."
