Anthony Clark Named Detroit Mercy Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

Clark comes the Titans from Ohio Northern

DETROIT (4/5/23) – Anthony Clark has been named Assistant Coach for the Detroit Mercy men's soccer team announced Head Coach Nate Kopunek. Clark comes to the Titans after spending four seasons as an Assistant Coach at his alma mater Ohio Northern University.
 
"Anthony is a great addition to the staff and is a proven winner bringing multiple NCAA tournament experience both as a player and coach," said Kopunek. "He also brings a considerable amount of character to our staff and has already hit the ground running to build a solid foundation for the Detroit Mercy Soccer program. I couldn't be more excited to welcome him aboard."
 
During his tenure at Ohio Northern, Clark specialized in creating offensive tactics for the forwards and the attacking midfield along with serving as the team's Recruiting Coordinator.
 
Under Clark's guidance, ONU finished the 2022 campaign with a 13-4-5 overall record winning the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) regular season championship with an 8-0-1 mark in conference play. The Polar Bears earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division III Tournament advancing to the third round before falling to Williams (Mass.) and finished with a No. 13 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches National Poll.
 
Individually, Clark assisted in the development of Levi King who earned 2022 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III All-Region VII First Team honors for the second time finishing his career as a four-time All-Region selection. He also was named to the All-OAC First Team as the conference's Midfielder of the Year for the second straight year and was a five-time All-OAC selection, four-time First Team pick and two-time OAC All-Tournament Team selection.
 
Clark is a 2017 graduate of Ohio Northern University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He also holds a USSF F License and Fundamentals of Coaching certificate. He was a two-year varsity player at ONU appearing in 30 career games with three starts while helping the Polar Bears win an OAC Championship in 2015 with two NCAA tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016 after transferring from NCAA Division II University of Findlay, where he was a varsity player for two years.
 
After graduating from ONU, Clark returned to West Clermont High School as the men's soccer Assistant Varsity Coach while also serving as the Head Coach at Cincinnati FC club team.
 
Clark played at West Clermont HS and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2018 after recording 75 goals and 67 assists during his career.
