Annie Gilbert and freshman
Alyssa Jarvis each tallied hat tricks, but Robert Morris got off to a fast start and the Titans couldn't make up the difference as the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-10 contest on Saturday afternoon.
Gilbert tied her career high in points with five as she had a season-high four goals with an assist. Jarvis - who came into the game with five goals on the season - scored three. Junior
Sarah Meek and redshirt freshman
Taylor Rocha had a goal and two assists, with Meek adding a team-high four draw controls and Rocha picked up two ground balls.
Sophomore
Meredith Leavell started and made nine saves in net in 37 minutes and freshman
Kayleigh Aitken played the last 23 minutes and had a season-high seven stops and four ground balls.
RMU (4-7, 2-1 MAC) scored the first five goals before Jarvis ended that run with a goal off a pass from junior
Abby Schillinger with 1:26 left in the first. The Colonials added three more after that before Gilbert fed Jarvis for her second with 6:06 left in the second. Meek then set up offense up and found Rocha and she beat the keeper to make it a 9-3 game at the break.
Gilbert struck quickly for her second goal less than a minute into the third and the Titans (2-7, 1-2 MAC) were within five, 9-4. They were also within five at 11-6 as sophomore
Brooke Parrillo registered her first career point, setting up Jarvis' third goal and then junior
Kiah Nuessgen put in his first career marker with 7:51 left in the third.Â
Meek would notch her goal with less than a minute left in the third as a save by Aitken set up the offensive opportunity. Gilbert tallied two goals of two passes from Rocha in the fourth and then added her fifth with the women down attack, scoring with two seconds left on the clock.
The Titans be back in action on Wednesday as the red, white and blue visit Akron.
