Chloe Spitzer were named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic (CSC) Academic All-District® NCAA Division I Softball Team.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes softball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6.
Smith
GPA: 3.97
Major: Biology
• Four-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection and four-time UDM Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
• Second on team in games played (36), third in RBI (4), fourth in walks (7), fifth in runs (4).
• Hit lone home run against NKU (4/15).
• Posted two multi-hit games going 2-for-3 vs YSU (3/27) and 2-for-4 vs Oakland (4/12).
• Hit .500 (4-for-8) in the Metro Series against arch-rival Oakland.
Spitzer
GPA: 3.53
Major: Biology
• Two-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection and two-time UDM Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
• Ranked second on team in innings pitched (71.2), strikeouts (31), complete games (7), appearances (17) and starts (13).
• Lone win came against at NC A&T (3/8) allowing only two runs on five scattered hits with four strikeouts while tossing 110 pitches.
• Posted season-high five strikeouts against arch-rival Oakland (4/12)
Warrington
GPA: 3.61
Major: Biology
• Four-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection and four-time UDM Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
• Led team in innings pitched (128.2 – 7th HL), strikeouts (90 – 8th HL), complete games (16), appearances (23), and starts (21).
• Recorded three wins on the season against RMU, YSU and at Green Bay.
• Tossed complete-game shutout allowing only two hits while matching a season-best seven strikeouts in 1-0 win at Green Bay (5/5)
• Posted season-high seven strikeouts on four occasions, vs BGSU (2/10), at NC A&T (3/8), vs IUPUI (4/27) and at Green Bay (5/5).
Wolfbauer
GPA: 3.93
Major: Communications and Psychology
• Named University of Detroit Mercy Class of 2023 Valedictorian
• 2023 Horizon League All-Academic Team selection
• Four-time Horizon League Honor Roll selection, four-time UDM Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
• Led the team in doubles (4) and sacrifice bunts (5) while ranking second in at bats (86) and games started (35), fourth in total bases (18), and tied for fourth in walks (7).
• Posted two multi-hits games while hitting .364 (4-for-11) with a double in the Metro Series against arch-rival Oakland.
