
DETROIT (6-19-23) – The Detroit Mercy women's basketball team has added transfer and East Lansing, Mich. native Jaida Hampton for the 2023-24 season announced Head Coach
Kate Achter.

Coach Achter on Hampton: "We love Jaida's versatility and experience and adding her allows us to be creative on both ends of the floor. Above all else, Jaida competes and is a proven winner. We have said from day one that we want to recruit the state hard and Jaida is a very important piece to our recruiting puzzle and we are so happy to bring a Michigander back home."

SIUE:
• Saw action in 26 games with three starts in two-seasons
• Scored 128 points, grabbed 50 rebounds with 22 assists while averaging 13.5 minutes per contest. Went 14-for-16 (87.5%) from the free throw line.
• Scored in double digits five times averaging 5.2 points per game in 24 contests as a junior.
• Named Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week (Nov. 30) after a 16-point effort at Butler and a 14-point surge in home opening win over Purdue Fort Wayne.
• Scored season-best 17 points at Murray State (2/5)
Wichita State:
• Member of the Wichita State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Saw action in 34 games in two seasons
• Played only seven games as her season was cut short due to injury during sophomore campaign (2019-20).
• Playing 26 games with 13 starts as a freshman during the 2018-19 season
• Averaging 6.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game while scoring 10 or more points in nine games and was the team's leading scorer eight times
• Named to the Duel in the Desert All-Tournament Team
• Came off the bench and scored a team-high 12 points vs. ECU (Jan. 29) and continued hot streak at Tulsa (Jan. 4) posting a career-high 18 points
• Tallied 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc vs. Savannah State (Dec. 30), posted 14 points vs. Washington State (Dec. 20), 14 points in the Shockers' win over Grambling State (Dec. 11)
• Led Wichita State with 10 points vs. Tennessee Tech on Dec. 2 and scored a team-high 12 points at South Dakota (Nov. 21)
• Made her first career start vs. Houston Baptist on Nov. 17 and tallied a team-high 13 points with five rebounds and four steals in win vs. Sam Houston State (Nov. 14).
East Lansing HS:
• Four-year letter winner and three-time team captain
• Went 78-19 during four-year career finishing with more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
• Helped lead team to a 26-1 record and MHSAA Class A State runner-up finish while setting the school record with 26 straight wins.
• Named 2018 Miss Michigan Basketball, Team MVP, Lansing State Journal Girls Basketball Player of the Year and after posting 16.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 steals per game as a senior.
• Member of the CAAC Blue All-Conference Team, Detroit Free Press Dream Team, AP First Team All-State, Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan Best of the Best All-State Team and All-USA Michigan Girls Basketball Team.
• Averaged 14.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.4 assists as a junior helping lead the team to a 21-3 record and three straight CAAC-Blue Conference championships
