Titans Take Two-Game Winning Streak To Robert Morris On Saturday

Senior Abby Schillinger and the Titans will look for their first three-game winning streak since 2019.
DETROIT (3/29/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team will look to make it three in a wow as the Titans spend Easter Weekend in Moon Township, Pennsylvania, by taking on Robert Morris on Saturday.

Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. at Joe Walton Stadium and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available.

Detroit Mercy is coming off back-to-back home wins with a 17-16 triumph over Kennesaw State and a 13-8 victory over Youngstown State.

Junior Leah Bodnar led the office with 10 points on eight goals and two assists, while senior Cat Kopchia notched eight goals. Junior Meredith Leavell made 14 stops against the Penguins and continues to be one of the top goalies in the nation in saves per game.

Robert Morris is 3-8 on the year, but 2-0 in MAC play as the Colonials have won their last two games, 10-9 over Akron and 11-10 in overtime at Kent State. 

After the game, the Titans will get ready for a home non-conference match-up with Arizona State on Tuesday, with first draw set for noon. 

VS. ROBERT MORRIS
  • The Titans are looking to end a six-game slide to Robert Morris, as the Colonials lead the all-time series 9-1.
  • The lone win was a 5-4 decision at home in 2016.
  • UDM is 0-5 on the road in the match-up.

LOOKING FOR BACK-TO-BACK
  • UDM just had back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2021 season and is now looking for its first three-game winning streak since taking four in a row during the 2019 campaign. 

#MACTION
  • The first two weeks of the conference season have featured nothing but close games as five of the six played between MAC foes have produced one-goal outcomes. The only contest that was not decided by one goal was Detroit Mercy's 13-8 triumph over Youngstown State. 

TAKE IT AWAY
  • Through the first nine games, UDM has posted 86 caused turnovers, with a season-high of 10 at Duquesne, at Pittsburgh, against Marquette, at Canisius, at Lindenwood, and against Kennesaw State.  
  • In fact, the Titans saw Duquesne turn it over 24 times, Lindenwood 19 and KSU 19 times and Pittsburgh, Marquette and Xavier had 18.
  • The Titans registered double-digit caused turnovers just four times last year. 
  • Detroit Mercy leads the MAC and is 44th in the nation with 8.7 takeaways per game.

HIGH RANKS
  • Detroit Mercy is currently second in the MAC and 47th in DI with 16.2 ground balls per game and third in the league and 46th in the country with a .439 save percentage.
  • The Titans have also averaged 27.1 shots per game, tops in the MAC.

YES I CAMM CAMM
  • Junior Maddy Camm continues to shine on both sides of the field as she has added an offensive flare to her game.
  • She just tallied four points on a career-tying three assists and a goal, along with her usual two caused turnovers, four draw controls, and three ground balls against Youngstown State.
  • She recorded her second-straight hat trick with three goals and a career-high 11 draw controls, two caused turnovers and three ground balls in the win over Kennesaw State after three goals, a team-high three ground balls, two draw controls and a caused turnover at Central Michigan.
  • Camm posted a career-best four points, a career-high three assists, five draw controls, two caused turnovers and a team-best three ground balls at Lindenwood.
  • She has career highs in every statistical category. 
  • She leads the team and is second in the MAC and 31st in the nation with 18 caused turnovers and 1.80 per game as well as leading the team lead, third in the MAC and 26th in the nation with 28 ground balls and 2.80 per game.  
  • She also leads the team with 10 assists, is second with 33 draw controls, 24 points and 14 goals.  
  • Camm now has at least one caused turnover and two ground balls in every game this season and has 41 caused turnovers, 62 draw controls, 66 ground balls with 26 goals and 22 assists in her career.
  • Camm tied her career best for the second time with three caused turnovers to go with three ground balls, two draw controls and two goals and an assist at Canisius. She tallied a team-high and tied her career-best with three caused turnovers, four draw controls, three ground balls, a goal and an assist at Pittsburgh.

NINE LIVES
  • Senior Cat Kopchia just registered her seventh-straight hat trick, her eighth of the season and 16th in her career as she tied her career high with five goals against Youngstown State. 
  • She has scored at least two goals in every game this season and 12 straight dating back to last year. 
  • She posted three at Central Michigan, following a career-high five goals and a season-best six points at Lindenwood. 
  • Kopchia became just the 13th Titan in school history to reach 100 career points and is now ninth in school history with 124 points on 94 goals and 30 assists, ninth in the school record book with those helpers and 10th in goals.  
  • She currently tops the team with 36 points - third in the MAC - and 33 goals - second in the league and 29th in the nation, career highs in both stats. 
  • Kopchia had three goals at Xavier, five points on three goals and two assists with two ground balls, and two caused turnovers at Canisius and three goals against Marquette. She also recorded four goals in the season opener at New Hampshire en route to being named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week. 
  • She was already one of the top goal scorers in the MAC as she led the team with 24 goals, second with 30 points and tied for third with eight assists last season. She also topped the team with five free-position goals.
  • Kopchia recorded a goal in 11 of her 12 games, with nine multi-goal contests, including a season-high five points on three goals and two assists, along with a GB, a draw control and a caused turnover against Eastern Michigan. She tallied a season-high four goals at Akron and had three goals and an assist versus Kent State.

NOT IN MY NET
  • Junior Meredith Leavell is coming off another great effort with 14 saves against Youngstown State, including six in the fourth period for her 16th career double-digit save performance.
  • She made a season-high 15 saves against Marquette and registered 12 at Lindenwood.
  • She is third in the MAC and 11th in DI with 101 saves, third in the league and 13th in the nation with 101 saves per game, second in the league and 47th in the country with a .441 save percentage and third in the MAC with a 13.9 goals against average.
  • She was named the MAC's Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar season opener that saw her record 10 saves with two caused turnovers and a ground ball at New Hampshire and posted 14 at Xavier and 13 at Duquesne. 
  • Leavell is currently fourth in school history with 301 saves, fourth with 8.60 saves per game, third at a .431 save percentage and fourth with a 14.24 goals-against average.
  • Last year, she led the MAC and was ninth in the nation with 10.36 saves per game as well as led the conference and 18th in the country with 2.86 ground balls per game.
  • Her 145 total stops and 10.36 saves per game were third in the Titan record book, while her 40 total GB's and 145 saves were the third most in the league. Leavell registered double-digit saves in eight games and tallied a career-best 17 saves against Butler at home earlier in the year, tied for 10th in school history, along with five ground balls. 

OUR ALL-MAC IS BACK
  • Junior Leah Bodnar was on fire against Kennesaw State as she tied her career high with seven points on a career-tying five goals, a career-high four turnovers and picked up four ground balls and is coming off three markers against Youngstown State for her sixth career hat trick.  
  • Bodnar got off to a quick start in the season opener at New Hampshire as she tallied a career-tying three-caused turnovers with three ground balls, two assists and a goal and tallied a season-high three goals and four points at Lindenwood. 
  • She is currently third on the team with 18 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and 20 points and tied for second with 14 goals and six assists. 
  • Last year, she was named All-MAC Second Team after finishing third on the squad with 19 goals and tied for fourth with 21 points. She also led the team with 33 draw controls, had 12 ground balls, and caused six turnovers.  

GIVE ME LIBERTY
  • Sophomore Libby Cuckler has stepped up on offense to start the year. She tallied a career-high four points on two goals and two assists against Kennesaw State, and that was after three points on a career-tying two goals and an assist at Central Michigan.
  • She recorded a goal and an assist at New Hampshire, two goals - both on the extra attacker - at Duquesne, and recorded a goal and an assist at Canisius.  
  • She has 14 points on eight goals and six helpers after accumulating just two goals and three points in 11 games last season. 

YOU RANG
  • Graduate senior Marina Butler has scored a goal in seven of the last eight games and is coming off a four-point effort with three assists and a goal against Youngstown State. 
  • She also had a season-high four points on a goal and three assists against Kennesaw State and scored twice at Xavier.
  • Butler had a goal with two caused turnovers and two GB's against Marquette and a goal with another two takeaways at Lindenwood. 
  • Last year, she led the team with 17 assists, was third with 30 points and tied for fourth with 13 goals. 
  • Butler tied her career-high with five points on three goals and two assists against Eastern Michigan. She also handed out a season-high three assists and scored a goal against Lindenwood and tied her season-high with three assists at Akron and at Eastern Michigan. 
  • She now has 91 points on 47 goals and 44 assists - fourth in school history - along with 41 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and nine draw controls.

A SCHILL OF A TIME
  • Senior Abby Schillinger pulled down a career-best eight draw controls and scored a goal in the season opener at New Hampshire and added four draws at Duquesne and two at Pittsburgh. 
  • Schillinger is third on the team with 16 draw controls after registering just 15 in her career coming into this season. 

REPRESENTING PUERTO RICO
  • Senior Cecelia Vergara had her best collegiate game with a career-high three ground balls, a career best two assists as well as a draw control and caused turnover at Duquesne.
  • She donned a uniform for a few days in November as she was a member of the Puerto Rico National Team at the Pan-American Lacrosse Association (PALA) Sixes Cup in Kingston, Jamaica.

OUR WASHINGTON TITAN
  • Sophomore Alyssa Jarvis, the first Titan from the state of Washington, had a solid rookie campaign last year and has improved in all areas, especially in the draw as she leads the team with 46 and is third in the MAC and 64th in DI with 4.60 per game. 
  • Jarvis now has 41 draw controls in the last six games after six with three goals and two GB's against Youngstown State.
  • She had eight draws, two goals and four ground balls against Kennesaw State and that was after pulling down a career-best 11 at Central Michigan, the most by a Titan since Elise Harder had 11 against Kent State in 2022. 
  • Prior to that, she recorded six draw controls with a goal and a ground ball at Lindenwood and back-to-back games with five draw controls at Xavier and at Canisius. 
  • Jarvis has scored a goal in nine games and is tied for third on the team with 14 goals and fourth with 16 points to go with 18 ground balls.
  • She netted multi-goal games with two markers at New Hampshire and at Canisius, and picked up a career-best four GB's with a goal and caused turnover at Pitt. 
  • She played in 14 games with 12 starts as a freshman and was sixth on the team with 10 goals and tied for sixth with 13 points. She was also fourth on the squad with 18 draw controls and had 12 ground balls and four caused turnovers. 
  • She scored two goals on her first two collegiate shots at Xavier. Jarvis posted a season-best three goals with two draw controls and a ground ball against Robert Morris and pulled down a season-high five draw controls and had a goal and ground ball against Kent State.
