Swab Shoots Even Par Round At Butler As Weather Cancels Final Day

Freshman David Swab carded an even-par 70 at Butler.
INDIANAPOLIS (4/1/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team will hope the rain will disappear as the Titans participate in Butler's Don Benbow Spring Invitational on Monday, but Tuesday's final round was canceled due to weather.

The Titans placed ninth after recording a 577 (291-286) at the par 70, 6,551-yard Highland Golf and Country Club. The 286 is tied for the second best round on the season, while the 577 is the fifth best 36-hole tournament score and the lowest total since shooting a 574 in 2019 at Bucknell.

Freshmen Gowtham Nalluri and Mason Sokolowski tied for 43rd with a 144. Nalluri started the event with a 3-over 73 before coming back to card a 1-over 71 as he had had four birdies and 24 pars, while Sokolowski shot a pair of 2-over 72's and tallied three birdies and 27 pars.

Senior Alek Mauro shared 51st with a 145 (71-74) and sophomore Austin Brancaccio and freshman David Swab tied for 72nd with a 147. Swab had the best score for the Titans with an even-par 70 in round one, where he posted three birdies and 12 pars.

The Titans will be back in action this weekend, April 6-7. as they play in NKU's Jewell Invitational.
