SPRINGBORO, Ohio (4/15/2024) -- The Titans shot their best round of the tournament on the final 18 holes as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team ended the regular season with a seventh-place finish at the Wright State Invitational on Monday.
The Titans posted an 891 (295-302-294) at the par 71, 7,075-yard Heatherwoode Golf Club in Springboro, Ohio.
Senior
Alek Mauro climbed up the standings and tied for 17th with a 221 (74-77-70), ending the event with a 1-under 70. He tallied six birdies and eight pars on the final 18 for his 12th career top-20 performance.
Freshman
Gowtham Nalluri recorded a 223 (71-78-74) and tied for 27th, while freshman
David Swab shared 34th with a 226 (76-73-77). Nalluri had two birdies and 11 pars and Swab knocked in a pair of birdies and 10 pars.
Sophomore
Austin Brancaccio registered a 228 (74-74-80) to tie for 45th and freshman
Mason Sokolowski carded a 2-over 73 to finish 53rd at 230 (78-79-73) as he finished with three birdies and 10 pars.
The Horizon League Championship is up next as the red, white and blue head to Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, and Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon Course on April 20-22.
