Montgomery Signs Athletic Transfer In Jared Lary

DETROIT (6/7/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team signed its eighth player under head coach Mark Montgomery as transfer Jared Lary has joined the Titans

Lary - who will be a junior and originally hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan - finished his high school career ar Lutheran East High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and spent the last two years at Lincoln Memorial University and Aquinas.

"Jared is a student-athlete who is very skilled and still developing his all-around game," said Montgomery. "He is athletic and a strong defender and has a good shooting stroke."

Averaged 11.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 30 games, nine starts, last season at Aquinas
Shot 45.7% from the field and 74.2% at the free-throw percentage, with 30 triples
Also tallied 20 steals and 14 blocks
Had 17 double-figure scoring games, with three 20-point performances, including a career-high 22 points against Cleary
Was at Lincoln Memorial for two years, redshirting as a freshman, and playing 18 games in 2022-23, averaging 3.6 points and 1.7 rebounds while shooting 41.9% overall and 92.0% at the line
Scored a season-high 16 points against Tennessee Wesleyan
Started his high school career at Grand Rapids Christian before transferring to Lutheran East in Cleveland Ohio
Averaged 10.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 blocks as a senior
Helped the school to a top-five ranking in the Associated Press state poll, a district title and an OHSSA State Title in 2021

He joins freshmen Nate Johnson, Ryan Kalambay, Miles Mitchell, TJ Nadeau and Stephen Okoro and transfers Legend Geeter and Orlando Lovejoy.
