Sam Sickinger had quite the breakout game recording her first career game-winning goal leading Detroit Mercy to a 3-1 #HLWSOC season-opening win over Youngstown State on Thursday Night. The Titans moved to a perfect 13-0 all-time record against YSU at Titan Field.

Joyelle Washington scored her first career goal in a Titan (3-6, 1-0 HL) uniform while graduate student
Erica Toupin added her team-best fourth goal and first assist of the season. Freshman
Kyleen Bradow also added her second helper of the season on Sickinger's game-winner.
Washington got UDM on the board as she put home a loose ball in traffic in the 14th minute.
In the 27th minute, Toupin got the ball deep in the box on the right side and sent in a cross to Bradow who slotted it over to Sickenger who then fired a one-time volley into the lower left 90 giving the Titans a 2-0 lead.
YSU (2-5-2, 0-1 HL) cut the lead in half with a tally in the 35th minute to trail 2-1 at the half.
Detroit Mercy got the insurance tally in the 70th minute as Toupin took a turnover pass and fired a long-range surgical strike past the outstretched arms of YSU goalkeeper Maya Naimoli from 25 yards out to seal the deal.
UDM concludes their five-game home stand with a #HLMSOC match against Robert Morris on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.
