BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (10/13/2025) -- University of Detroit Mercy men's golf junior Mason Sokolowski won his match, and junior Gowtham Nalluri tied his bout as the Titans started the Motor City Match-Up on Monday.
Detroit Mercy fell to Green Bay, 4.5-1.5, at the par-72, 5,897-yard Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan.
Sokolowski started slow, losing the first two holes, before going on a hot streak and taking four of the last five on the opening nine. He saw Green Bay knot it up through 13, but he won 14 and halved the final four holes to win by one.
Meanwhile, Nalluri won his first two holes and was up by two with five holes left when the Phoenix made a comeback to split the point.
Junior David Swab had a great round, going 2-under for the round, but fell 4 & 2, while freshman Peyton Lawley was downed 3 & 2.
Detroit Mercy will close the event on Tuesday against Chicago State, with the matches teeing off at 10:00 a.m.
