DETROIT (11/11/2025) -- Eleven Titans scored, with sophomore
TJ Nadeau leading the way with 16 points, as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team routed Cleary, 92-54, on Monday in Calihan Hall.
It was the home opener for the Titans, who moved to 1-2 on the season.
Nadeau also had six rebounds, and freshman
Keshawn Fisher had 14 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Junior
Ayden Carter netted 15 points and a season-high eight boards, and freshman
Je'kel Cotton nearly had a double-double with a season-high nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
The Titans shot 46.9% from the field and outrebounded the Cougars, 52-39, while holding them to just 29.5% from the field and 6-of-24 from three.
Cleary scored the first basket, but UDM answered with 11-straight points, fueled by back-to-back baskets by Nadeau and layups from junior
Nate Johnson and freshman
Lance Stone. Later on, back-to-back buckets by Carter and a free throw from Johnson gave the Titans their first double-digit lead at 17-7 at the 11:12 mark.
Detroit Mercy would go on a 12-0 run, with triples from redshirt freshman
Tyler Spratt and Nadeau in that span and ending with a layup from Cotton for a 29-9 advantage en route to a 40-22 lead at the break.
The Cougars got on a bit of a spurt to start the second half, trimming the lead to 10 on a couple of occasions, the latest at 43-33, but the Titans responded as a three by Cotton and a layup from freshman
Xavier Istomin-Monroe had the margin back up to 18, 52-34.
Fisher and Carter later started a 13-2 run for a 66-30 lead with 8:49 left. Fisher added eight more points in the next few minutes, with his turnaround jumper making it 75-46, and Nadeau rang in a three for an 80-48 lead with just over five minutes to go.
Johnson ended with nine points. Stone scored a season-best 11 with a season-high five rebounds, a team-high six assists, and three steals, and Spratt netted five points and pulled down a season-best eight caroms.Â
Detroit Mercy will be back on the hardwood on Saturday as the red, white, and blue cross the border into Toledo to face the Rockets in a 1:00 p.m. tip.Â
