Shana Dupin (Foil) had quite the debut for the Detroit Mercy women's fencing, leading the way with 17 bout wins as the top individual out of 147 total fencers as both teams completed season-opening competition at the Drew Invitational on Sunday. Freshman
Darick Galcia (Foil) also made an impressive debut, finishing 34th out of 151 fencers with 10 wins, followed by junior
Arturo Rangel (epee), who finished 35th with 10 wins. The women's team finished eighth, coming close to defeating Drew and Haverford College, losing 14-13 both times, while the men's team placed 11th.
