MILWAUKEE (2/8/2025) -- Senior
Caden Loken and redshirt freshman
Marcus Thundercloud each scored their first two collegiate goals and graduate senior
Ally Don Jean-Francois and freshman
Andrew Parker also tallied their first markers, but an early lead was spoiled as the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team fell, 16-6, at Marquette on Saturday.
Senior
Ryan Richters made 13 saves and picked up three ground balls with a caused turnover. Senior
Will Marshall had two caused turnovers and a ground ball and senior
Sean Henige added a caused turnover and three GB's.
The Titans (2-0) took a 2-0 lead as Loken found the back of the net for his first collegiate goal at the 10:37 mark. After a faceoff win, Thundercloud beat his defender and fired one in for a 2-0 lead a little more than five minutes into the contest.
Marquette jumped in front, 3-2, but with the man-up, Thundercloud got to the net and put in a diving shot while being pushed, and it was knotted at 3-3 with 9:30 left in the second.
It was 5-3 at the break and despite five saves from Richters and a couple of takeaways in the third, the Golden Eagles extended the margin to 12-3 when Jean-Francois unleashed a shot for his first collegiate marker late in the period. Early in the fourth, junior
Zach Snider found Loken and he tickled the twine for his second strike and Parker buried a long attempt for his first marker late in the game.
Junior
Kyle Grant finished with a caused turnover and freshman
Canton Lanham won five faceoffs.
The Titans will have a week off as they prepare for Bellarmine in two weeks.
