DETROIT (3/15/2025) -- Four Titans scored goals, but a second-half run by the visitors was the story as the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team dropped its NEC opener, 19-4, to Robert Morris on Sunday.
Both teams made their NEC opener after being in the ASUN for the last few seasons.
Senior
Chase Mahabir had a goal and an assist, while seniors
Aidan Bishop and
Harold Skinner and freshman
Andrew Parker all had goals.
Senior
Ryan Richters made 13 saves inbetween the pipes. Junior
Kyle Grant had a caused turnover and a team-high four ground balls, while senior
Eoghan Mullett had a takeaway and three GB's.
It was a defensive battle at the start as Richters had six saves in the opening period and Grant, Mullett and sophomore
Gavin Moore all had caused turnovers. Robert Morris (4-4, 1-0 NEC) scored the first goal, but then UDM (1-4, 0-1 NEC) knotted it up as Mahabir found Parker with 37 seconds left in the first.
Detroit Mercy was down 3-1 in the second when a save by Richters led to a marker from Skinner. RMU got one back, but with 3:04 on the clock, sophomore
Julian Greendeer set up Bishop and the red, white and blue trailed just 4-3 at the time and 5-3 at the break.
The Colonials ran their lead to 11-3 when Mahabir netted his goal at the 3:32 mark in the third, but the Titans could not start the comeback.
Freshman
Canton Lanham won five faceoffs, and senior
Billy Hart was 3-of-6 with three ground balls. Junior
Jackson Ewald had a caused turnover and ground ball and Parker picked up two GB's.
UDM was 26-of-28 on clears, but was outshot 45-32.
The Titans will head to the East Coast next week when they play at LIU.
