Titans Fall at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (4/19/2025) – Junior Alyssa Jarvis tied her career best with five goals scored, however, the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team was upended at Youngstown State 20-9 on Saturday afternoon.

The host Penguins (6-8, 1-4 MAC) never trailed in the contest as they opened a 9-1 lead early in the second.

Junior Libby Cuckler added a goal and four assists, while senior Maddy Camm registered a goal and assist for two points and is now just two shy of 100 points in her career. Senior Leah Bodnar also had a multi-point game for UDM (5-8, 2-3 MAC), scoring a goal and tallying an assist while recording five draw controls.

In goal, senior Meredith Leavell made seven saves, while senior Katie Bilello picked up three ground balls on defense.

Youngstown State scored the first two goals of the game before Detroit Mercy got on the board with 10:04 left in the first, thanks to Cuckler. YSU responded to Detroit Mercy's goal with four straight to take a 6-1 lead after one quarter.

The lead grew to 9-1 before Camm responded with her 19th goal of the season to make it 9-2 in the second. UDM scored three more times in the second, but trailed 12-5 at the halftime break.

Detroit Mercy tried to mount a comeback in the third quarter as Jarvis scored three goals, the last of which made it a 13-8 deficit with 5:37 left, but the home squad netted seven of the next eight markers.

Jarvis also pulled down five draw controls as Detroit Mercy had an 18-13 advantage on the draws. The Titans were also 20-22 on clears.

UDM returns to Titan Field next Sunday for the regular season finale against Central Michigan, needing a win to make the playoffs. First draw is set for Noon.
