Track & Field Set For Busy Weekend As Titans Take Part In Three Meets

Freshmen Zach Rubicz, Jariatu Bangurah and the Titans will be showing off the red, white and blue at three meets.
DETROIT (4/9/2025) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's track and field team will be hitting the road for a couple of competitions in the Great Lakes State as well as one in the Keystone State.

The busy weekend will start on Friday as graduate senior Simon Jones and sophomore Joshua Neary will be at Davenport's Panthers Classic, competing in the decathlon, while freshman Abbey Ressler will be in the pole vault.

Meanwhile, a number of distance runners will head to Bucknell for the Bison Classic, starting on Saturday. Sophomore Christopher Russellbug will be in the 5,000-meters for the men, while senior Evie Wright, junior Claire Hunt and sophomore Helna Napiorkowski will be in the 10,000m and freshman Ana Lopez will run in either the 800m or the mile.

The rest of the Titans will make the trek up north to Mount Pleasant for the Chippewa Classic on Saturday.

In the outdoor opener at Oakland last week, the women's team had three winners and the men had several top-10 efforts.
