Match-Ups At Michigan State, DePaul, Notre Dame Headline Men's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule

DETROIT (7/30/2025) -- It will be a busy road docket for the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team as six of its nine non-conference games will take the Titans away from the Motor City.

Detroit Mercy will open the year at UIC on Nov. 3 and will also have trips to Notre Dame (Nov. 7), Toledo (Nov. 15), Michigan State (Nov. 21), DePaul (Nov. 23), and Niagara (Nov. 29) in the first 26 days of the season.

The Titans will host Cleary in their home opener on Nov. 11, and will also feature home battles versus  longtime rival Eastern Michigan on Nov. 18 and Siena Heights on Dec. 20.

The Horizon League slate will be announced in early September.

UDM is set to return six letterwinners and five starters - the most in the Horizon League in both categories - and blend in eight newcomers to the squad.

Season tickets are currently on sale and can be purchased by contacting Assistant Business & Ticket Manager Paige Zmudczynski '14 at 313-320-8873 or at zmudczpa@udmercy.edu

Nov. 3 at UIC
  • UDM leads the all-time series, 34-22, as the Titans and Flames are old Horizon League rivals who played against each other in the HL from 1995-2022. The biggest win in conference history for the Titans was a 98-47 thrashing of UIC at home in 2013.

Nov. 7 at Notre Dame
  • The old Catholic rivals that first met in 1912 will battle again for the first time since 2020 as the Fighting Irish lead the all-time series, 43-12. Notre Dame actually won the first 24 meetings, but in 1955, Titan Hall-of-Famer Bill Ebben held U-D win 77-71 after a 32-point outburst.

Nov. 11 vs. Cleary
  • The Titans lead the all-time series at 3-0 after last year's 39-point victory and triumphs in 1905 and 1906. The win last year was the first Titan victory under Mark Montgomery

Nov. 15 at Toledo
  • Detroit Mercy and Toledo will meet for the 12th time in the last 13 years as the Rockets have the edge in the series, 38-25. Detroit Mercy and Toledo first met in 1920, as the Titans routed the Rockets, 30-8, behind Walter Voss' 12 points.

Nov. 18 vs. Eastern Michigan
  • This will be the 82nd meeting between the cagers from the Motor City and Ypsilanti as the Titans lead the series, 60-21, with the 81 games the fourth most against any foe and the 60 wins the most against any opponent in school history.

Nov. 21 at Michigan State
  • The United States entered World War I in April of 1917, and later that year, Detroit Mercy and Michigan State met for the first time as the Spartans lead the battle 46-16. UDM won three in a row over MSU in the mid-90's, but while wearing his alma mater's colors, the Spartans were 4-0 with coach Montgomery on the floor.

Nov. 23 at DePaul
  • The Titans and Blue Demons will meet for the first time since 2009, with DePaul owning a 29-8 overall ledger as UDM looks to win on the road for the first time since 1938. In that contest, Nick Pegan scored the game-winning basket as U-D was without three starters in the overtime due to foul trouble.

Nov. 29 at Niagara
  • The red, white and blue have won three in a row over the Purple Eagles and lead the all-time series, 5-3, as UDM is set to visit Niagara for the first time since 1922. In 1967, Larry Salci scored 27 points against Niagara to lead U-D to a Motor City championship.

Dec. 20 vs. Siena Heights
  • The holiday break will see Detroit Mercy and Siena Heights get together for the third time since 2000, as UDM has won the prior two meetings. In 2017, freshman Jermaine Jackson Jr., nearly had the first Titan triple-double since 1977 finishing with 16 points, a season-high 13 assists and nine steals.
