DETROIT (1-23-26) – The Detroit Mercy men's and women's fencing teams resume the 2025-26 season at the annual and prestigious Michael Decicco Duals hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday, Jan. 24 and Sunday, Jan. 25, beginning at 9 am in South Bend, Ind.
The Titans opened the season at the Drew Invitational back on Nov. 1-2, 2025.
Drew Invitational Highlights:
• Senior
Shana Dupin (Foil) had quite the debut for the Detroit Mercy women's fencing, leading the way with 17 bout wins as the top individual out of 147 total fencers.
• Freshman
Darick Galcia (Foil) also made an impressive debut, finishing 34th out of 151 fencers with 10 wins.
• Junior
Arturo Rangel (epee) finished 35th with 10 wins.
• The women's team finished eighth, coming close to defeating Drew and Haverford College, losing 14-13 both times.
• The men's team placed 11th.
• Sophomore
Lusciana Ruiz (Epee) placed 21st with 11 wins.
• Junior
Sydney Upton (Foil) finished 22nd with 11 wins.
• Sophomore
Sophia Baez (Sabre) placed 28th with 10 wins.
• Junior
Sophia Miller (Sabre) finished 67th with six wins.
• Junior
Nathan Mysiorek (Sabre) placed 41st with nine wins.
• Sophomore
Phillip Hunter (Foil) finished 95th with four wins.
• Freshman
Bennett Holloway (Epee) secured his first career win.
• Senior
Julissa Labra-Avila (Epee) and Adriana Molina-Marroquín had a win each.
