DeCasas, Murray Break School Records At Notre Dame

Freshman Colin Murray broke the school's rookie record in the 5,000 meters.
DETROIT (1/30/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team set two records and posted a few personal bests on the opening day of two meets on Friday.

The Titans were competing at Notre Dame's Meyo Invitational and Saginaw Valley's Jet's Pizza Invitational.

The biggest mark was a win for freshman Joey DeCasas at Notre Dame, who broke the school's long jump record with a leap of 7.58 meters, surpassing Angelo Finnie's 7.49m jump in 2003.

Also at Notre Dame, freshman Colin Murray posted a new school rookie record, taking eighth in the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:30.23, over-taking Ben Kendell's 14:37.08 run in 2015.

Sophomore Ryan Belanger claimed fourth in the 5,000m at SVSU with a career-best 14:59.44, the 15th Titan to ever break 15 in the event, while freshman Isaiah Fox was fifth in the long jump in a season-best 6.43m.

Meanwhile, senior Anthony Yip threw a career-best 15.17 in the weight for 13th place.

Both events will wrap up tomorrow.
