COLUMBUS, Ohio (2/1/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team had a tough task in its season opener, and despite battling hard, the Titans fell, 19-3, to 10th-ranked Ohio State on Sunday.
Redshirt junior
Cooper St. Clair made 14 saves in net, while sophomores
Marcus Thundercloud and
Andrew Parker each scored a goal.
Graduate senior
Sean Henige had two caused turnovers and two ground balls, and senior
Kyle Grant had a goal and four GB's.
Thundercloud scored the first goal of the year at the 6:31 mark in the first, off a pass from freshman
Dylan Belliveau. Later on, in the first, Grant was able to beat the goalie off transition to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Parker was able to fire one in the back of the net early in the second to make it 6-3, but the Buckeyes were able to control the rest of the game.
Freshman
Tommy Thompson finished with two caused turnovers. Sophomore
Malakhi Berry picked up a pair of ground balls, and freshman
Tyler Francis-Renner had a ground ball and a takeaway.
Detroit Mercy will have more than a week off now as it will next play at Michigan on Feb. 10.

- Ohio State leads the all-time series, 14-1, including a 13-0 mark at home, with the lone win for the Titans a 9-8 decision in 2015
- Detroit Mercy is now 4-14 all-time in season openers and 1-17 in road season openers

- Thundercloud has scored a goal in nine of his 11 career games as he did not score last year at Ohio State
- Parker has now scored a goal in 10 of his 13 career games
