Edwards Posts Seventh Double-Double with New Titan Career-High with 22 Points and 14 Rebounds in Setback to Wright State

DETROIT (2-12-26) For the second consecutive game, graduate student Jasmine Edwards posted a double-double (seventh overall), pouring in a new Titan career-high 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting while grabbing 14 rebounds. Graduate student Kailee Davis also reached double figures for the fourth straight game with 12 points as Detroit Mercy battled, but couldn't overcome Wright State's hot 3-point shooting in a 78-61 setback in the annual Pink Game on Thursday night at Calihan Hall.

Senior Myonna Hooper had seven points with five rebounds, while junior Makayla Jackson and graduate student Nisea Burrell had six points each. Sophomore Anna Lassan added three points with six rebounds.

Detroit Mercy's (5-19, 3-12 HL) defense was on point, scoring 25 points off 16 Wright State (8-18, 4-11 HL) turnovers, while holding a 40-24 points in the paint advantage. However, the great equalizer was the Raiders' hot shooting from long range as they hit 13-for-23 (56.5%), compared to just 3-for-19 (15.8%), which proved to be the difference in the game.

UDM jumped out to a 13-7 lead, going 6-for-8 from the field by the media timeout. However, WSU responded, outscoring the Titans 12-5 with an 8-0 run to close out the frame to lead, 19-18.

The second quarter was nip and tuck the entire way with WSU outscoring UDM 22-16 to lead by seven at the break, 41-34. Edwards paced the Titans with 11 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field with five boards, while Davis had nine points on 4-of-5 shooting.

The Raiders extended their third lead in the third quarter, adding three more triples to outscore the Titans 20-11 to lead by 16 going into the fourth.

In the final frame, UDM trimmed the deficit to 10 points just two minutes in and only trailed by 11 points, 70-59, at the 5:32 mark after scoring 14 points. However, the Titans could only muster two more points the rest of the way, while WSU closed the game on an 8-2 run.

Detroit Mercy will host Purdue Fort Wayne for National Girls & Women in Sports Day on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 1 p.m.
