Before the game, UDM hosted the annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day event for girls ages 5-12 to participate in skills instruction in various sports, along with a half-time performance, and a post-game autograph session.
Purdue Fort Wayne (16-10, 10-6 HL) opened the third with a 10-4 run to move ahead 54-32. McQueen then hit back-to-back triples, followed by a layup from Jackson, which capped off an 8-2 Detroit Mercy (5-20, 3-13 HL) run to trail 56-40. PFW finished with an 11-6 spurt to lead 71-46 going into the fourth.
The Titans made their move in the fourth, opening the frame with an 18-4 run, shooting a blistering 8-for-12 (72.7%) to trail by 11 points at 75-64 with 2:10 left. However, the Dons responded with a quick 9-2 spurt down the stretch to put the game out of reach. For the quarter, the Titans went 10-for-17 (58.8%) but missed both attempts from long range.
In the first half, PFW took a commanding 23-11 lead to open the game in the first quarter. UDM's offense settled in during the second quarter with 17 points, while the Dons posted 21 to lead 44-28 at the break.
