Titans Tie School Record For Goals In Rout At Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (2/14/2026) -- It might have been Valentine's Day, but it was not pretty on the field as the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team tied a school record for goals in a 20-8 road romp at Hampton on Saturday afternoon.

The 20 goals were the most ever scored on the road for UDM and tied with the most in school history with the 20-13 victory over Bellarmine in 2020.

The Titans (1-2) also tied a school record with 59 shots and five man-up goals.

Freshman PJ O'Hanlon tallied a season-high five goals. Redshirt sophomore Marcus Thundercloud had a career-high seven points on three goals and a career-best four assists, and sophomore Andrew Parker had two goals and two helpers.

Senior Kyle Grant tied a career-high with six caused turnovers, while graduate senior Sean Henige tied his career best with three, and sophomore Canton Lanham won a career-high 21-of-28 faceoffs and picked up a career-high 13 ground balls, tied for second in school history.

Detroit Mercy started the scoring as freshman DJ Wojciechowski fed O'Hanlon for his first, and then junior Gavin Moore fired one in for a 2-0 lead just over three minutes into the contest.

Hampton (0-3) came back to take the lead, but freshman Dylan Belliveau scored his first collegiate goal to make it 3-3.

The Pirates would lead 4-3 at the end of one, but Belliveau found Thundercloud early in the second, and O'Hanlon made it a 5-4 affair at the 12:08 mark in the second.

Hampton knotted it at 5-5, but that is when the Titans took over, scoring four in a row for a lead they would never give back. Sophomore Malakhi Berry started it with his first goal of the season, and after a faceoff win from Lanham, graduate senior Harold Skinner located Thundercloud for a 7-5 margin with 8:39 to go.

UDM took advantage of a penalty as Thundercloud set up Skinner, and once again, a Lanham win saw Wojciechowski find Parker, and it was 9-5 with just over four minutes remaining.

Detroit Mercy added the only three scores in the third with O'Hanlon, Parker, and Skinner for a 12-6 score after three.

In the fourth, the Pirates scored the first two to pull within four, 12-8, but the red, white and blue ended the game with eight-straight tallies for the romp, including the first collegiate markers by Wojciechowski and freshman Riley Bissett.

Skinner and Belliveau both finished with two goals and an assist. Wojciechowski had a goal and three assists, and Berry recorded a career-high two goals, two caused turnovers, and five ground balls.

Redshirt junior Cooper St. Clair made nine saves in net to pick up the win.

Detroit Mercy outshot Hampton, 59-31, outworked the Pirates 41-15 on ground balls, and forced 22 turnovers, causing 12 of them. UDM was 21-of-22 on clears, tied a school record going 5-of-5 on the extra-man advantage, and were 22-of-31 on faceoffs, tied for the fourth most in the school record book.

The Titans will return home for two games, hosting Bellarmine on Saturday at Detroit Country Day High School and Marquette on campus on Monday.
