BEVERLY HILLS, Mich. (2/21/2025) -- Sophomore
Andrew Parker tallied his second hat trick of the season and senior
Danton Molotky scored his first two collegiate goals, but a second-half push by Bellarmine saw the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team fall, 16-9, on Saturday.
The game was played indoors at Country Day High School.
Parker also added an assist. Redshirt junior
Cooper St. Clair made 15 saves, while senior
Kyle Grant had a caused turnover, three ground balls, and scored a goal.
Sophomore
Canton Lanham was 15-of-23 and picked up six ground balls, and senior
Sean Henige posted two takeaways and two ground balls.
It was back and forth early on as Molotky's first collegiate strike tied it at 1-1 before Parker gave UDM (1-3) a 2-1 lead.
Bellarmine (2-2) answered with seven in a row, but then the Titans had back-to-back markers with freshman
Dylan Belliveau and Molotky to draw within three, 7-4, midway through the second.Â
Rookie
Tyler Francis-Renner was able to beat the keeper for his first collegiate goal, and Parker followed with another, and it was 9-6. Before the end of the half, the Titans took advantage of a turnover, and Grant fired one in, making it 10-7 at the break.
The Knights would start the second half with four-straight goals before Parker netted one with the man-up early in the fourth. Freshman
Tommy Thompson then found the back of the net for his first with over four minutes remaining, but it was not enough.
Redshirt sophomore
Marcus Thundercloud finished with a pair of assists. Junior
Gavin Moore recorded two caused turnovers and four ground balls and sophomore
Malakhi Berry had a takeaway and six GB's.Â
Detroit Mercy had a 33-28 edge on ground balls, but was outshot, 46-36.
The Titans will now get ready to face Marquette on Monday, with the first faceoff set for Noon.Â
