SPRINGBORO, Ohio (4/13/2026) -- Redshirt sophomore
Ethan Oblak tallied a top-20 finish as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team ended its playoff tune-up by finishing sixth at the Wright State Invitational on Monday.
UDM totaled an 876 (290-288-298) at the par 71, 7,075-yard Heatherwoode Golf Club. Detroit Mercy was just six shots outside the top five and 12 shy of the top three.Â
Oblak shared 20th with a career-low 217 (66-74-77) - his second-straight top-20 finish - as he had 11 pars and two birdies in the final round. Overall, he was ninth in the field with 35 pars and second on the team with nine birdies.
Graduate senior
Bavake Sihota tied for 28th with a 220 (72-71-77), while freshman
Peyton Lawley shot a 222 (75-72-75) for a share of 35th. Sihota had nine pars and three birdies to finish up the event, and was tied for eighth in the tournament with an even-par 3.00 average on the par 3's. Lawley had a 4-over 75 with 13 pars and two birdies, leading the team with 10 birdies overall.Â
Junior
Mason Sokolowski had the best round on the final 18 as he registered a 1-over 72 for the second consecutive round, finishing tied for 44th with a 224 (80-72-72). He started the day with six pars, two birdies, and an eagle in his first nine holes and knocked in five more pars the rest of the way.Â
Detroit Mercy will now get ready for the Horizon League Championship, scheduled for Apr. 25-27 at the Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon Course in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.Â
