The Detroit Titans traveled to Evanston, IL, to face the four-time defending NCAA Women's Lacrosse National Champion, Northwestern, in an exhibition match-up Friday evening. The Wildcats went on to claim a 26-2 victory over the newly established UDM squad.

"Northwestern is literally the best team in the country," said UDM head coach #Mary Ann Meltzer#. "Only two starters were lost for the Wildcats from last year's team.

"This was an extremely positive experience for our team because we will not face another team this season that is faster, quicker and stronger than the Northwestern squad we faced today."

UDM freshmen #Emily Boissonneault# and #Anna Eidem# each scored for the Titans against the Wildcats, while freshman goalkeeper Brett Yenger tallied 17 saves after playing in net the entire contest for Detroit.

The Titans will open up their inaugural season on the road against Howard on Feb. 21, 2009 (1 p.m.) and will host Niagara on Feb. 28 for UDM's first-ever home contest.
