UDM Harriers Run Well At Falcon Invite

Falcon Invite Final Results

The UDM women's cross country team put together another strong outing as the Titans took eighth with a 229 team score at the 6k Falcon Invitational on Saturday morning. The race was the final tune-up of the season before UDM's host the Horizon League Championships on Oct. 31 at Kensington Metropark.

“A successful 6k debut for the season and for the rookies,” said head coach Guy Murray. “Our top five is a nice group that will be able to work together at the HL championships.”

Senior Beata Gorzynska (Ilawa, Poland/Mazurski of Olsztynie) was the top runner for the third time this year earning a career mark with a time of 23:16, good for 31st place. She was followed by freshman Alexandria Vintevoghel (Casco, MI/Marine City), who was in front of her for much of the race and finished just two seconds behind her for 33rd place in her 6k debut.

“Beata finished very strong catching up to Alexandria, who did a very good job of getting out and competing,” noted Murray.

Junior Kristie Ferrans (Carleton, MI/Monroe) was the third Titan in with a personal best 23:55 for 50th. Freshman Katrina Oberski (Clyde, MI/Port Huron)and sophomore Stephanie Rossman (Caledonia, MI/Caledonia) were also tight at the end with Oberski taking 56th in 24:06 in her first ever 6k, while Rossman placed 59th with a 24:09 tally.
