The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team faced five-time defending national champion Northwestern on Thursday evening in Evanston, IL, for its final exhibition game of the season.
Sophomore
Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON / Donald A. Wilson Secondary) scored Detroit's lone goal as the Titans fell by a score of 21-1 to the Wildcats. Sophomore
Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) was in net for the first half, as well as some of the second and freshman
Marybeth Flanagan (Lansing, MI / Waverly) had an opportunity to play the second half of the last stanza of the contest.
"Our defense played well, but we have a lot to work on at the attack end," said Detroit head coach
Mary Ann Meltzer. "We got solid play from Mel (Hicks), Alyssa (Shaver), Megan (Calahan), Emily, Corina (Mahorn) and Zaynib (Hamze) tonight against a national caliber squad."
The Titans will return to action when the 2010 regular season begins in February.
