Women's Lacrosse Falls at Quinnipiac

The UDM women's lacrosse team (2-5) lost by a score of 17-7 at Quinnipiac (4-1), the defending Northeastern Conference regular season champion, Friday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey & Lacrosse Turf Field in Hamden, CT.

Detroit freshman Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON//Anderson CVI) opened up the scoring as she found the back of the net just 51 seconds into the contest. Freshman Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson), who ended with a game-high four goals, pulled Detroit within one (3-2) at 25:16, while Mahorn netted her second goal of the half about two minutes later to have the scoreboard read, 4-3, in favor of the Bobcats.

Boissonneault added two more goals in the opening stanza for the Titans, with freshman Kandice Bogatz (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) earning an assist on the first, but Quinnipiac went into the break with an 11-5 lead.

Boissonneault collected her fourth goal of the contest at the 27:57 mark of the second half to put the score at 11-6, while Mahorn netted Detroit's final goal at 16:41, which put the score at 15-7.

Senior Ashley Valentine and sophomore Christine Sinnigen each had three goals for Quinnipiac, while Valentine and teammate junior Katie Latonick both dished out two assists.

Freshman goalie Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) tallied nine saves on the afternoon for the Titans, while freshman Noelle Martello collected three for the Bobcats.

Detroit returns home for their next contest as UDM will host Fresno State on Friday (4 p.m.) at Titan Field.
