Women's Lacrosse Falls to Cincinnati

The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team (4-8) dropped its final regular season game by a score of 15-6 to Cincinnati (7-10) Monday evening at Indian Hill High School in Cincinnati, OH.

Freshman Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) netted Detroit's fist goal of the evening to tie the game at one not even two minutes into the contest. After sophomore Natalie Starvaggi put the Bearcats up by one, UDM freshman Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON/Anderson CVI) scored her 21st goal of the season, unassisted, at 22:57, to knot the contest at two.

Freshman Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) found the back of the net with just over 16 minutes remaining in the half to give Detroit a 3-2 advantage over UC. The Bearcats scored the last four goals of the stanza to take a 6-3 lead into the break.

Boissonneault netted her second goal of the contest at 17:08 of the second stanza to put the score at 11-4 and then scored the next goal of the game about six minutes later to increase her season goal total to 45. After two Bearcats goals and with just over six minutes remaining in the game, Eidem tacked on another goal for the Titans.

Sophomore Lynsey Burton, freshman Laura Simanski and senior Lindsey Marshall each tallied three goals for the Bearcats.

Freshman Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) was in net the entire game for the Titans and tallied 11 saves, while allowing six goals. Freshman Katherine Russo earned the win for UC as she collected seven saves and allowed four goals in 46:50 minutes of play.

The Titans will return to action when they face Presbyterian at the Independent Tournament in Farmville, VA, on May 1 at 3 p.m.
