Sophomore
Corina Mahorn (Whtiby, ON/Anderson CVI) netted a career-high nine goals to help lead Detroit's women's lacrosse team to an 18-13 victory over Fresno State at Bulldog Stadium Saturday evening.
Seven of Mahorn's goals came in the first half, including the game-winning goal at 9:07, which was at even strength and pushed Detroit ahead, 6-5, over the Bulldogs and the Titans maintained their lead the rest of the way. Mahorn added to her goal total at 3:48 of the opening stanza to put the score at 9-6, but Fresno State's Sara Weber was able to find the back of the net in the closing minutes, which gave UDM a two-point cushion at the break.
Detroit freshman
Lindsey Saunders (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) opened up the scoring of the second half, with help from sophomore
Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace), which was followed by an unassisted goal from freshman
Erin Campbell (Orangeville, ON/Orangeville District Secondary) to put the score at 11-7. Mahorn's final goal, was the last goal of the evening, and it came unassisted with just over a minute remaining.
Sophomore
Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) tallied 12 saves, while allowing 13 goals in 60 minutes of action, while Katie Wilbur was in net the entire game for Fresno (0-5) and stopped six attempts, but allowed 18 goals.
The Titans (3-4) will close out its California trip on Saturday, March 13 at UC Davis with start time is slated for 4 p.m.
