Detroit's women's lacrosse team wrapped up its California tour Saturday afternoon at UC Davis, but fell by a score of 18-6 at Aggie Stadium.
Sophomore
Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson Secondary) led the Titans with five goals, while sophomore
Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) netted one and sophomore
Olivia Mendoza (Lansing, MI/Catholic Central) earned an assist.
Boissonneault scored Detroit's first goal about six minutes into the game and then netted three more in the opening stanza, with the last coming with 12 seconds left, to pull Detroit within five (9-4) at the break.
Boissonneault opened up the scoring for both teams in the second half less than three minutes in, while Eidem scored her goal with help from Mendoza at the 3:12 mark.
Goalkeeping duties for Detroit were split between sophomore
Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) and freshman
Marybeth Flanagan (Lansing, MI/Waverly). Yenger took the loss as she played the first 21:35 and gave up eight goals, while collecting eight saves. Flanagan was in net the remainder of the contest and she tallied 12 saves, while allowing 10 goals.
The Titans will return to action when they host Notre Dame College on Wednesday, March 17 at 4 p.m.
