University of Detroit Mercy's women's lacrosse team (3-6) traveled to Pittsburgh for a match-up with Atlantic 10 member Duquesne (3-5), but fell by a score of 20-4 Friday afternoon.
Freshman
Erin Campbell (Orangeville, ON/Orangeville District Secondary) scored the Titans' first goal just under five minutes into the game, while sophomore
Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) netted two within 27 seconds of each other late in the first half. Detroit did not score any more in the opening stanza to give the Dukes an 11-3 advantage at the break. Sophomore
Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON/Anderson CVI) netted UDM's final goal of the game with just 28 seconds remaining in the contest.
Sophomore
Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) started things off in net for Detroit and gave up 17 goals, while tallying 21 saves, and was replaced by freshman
Marybeth Flanagan (Lansing, MI/Waverly) with just over 11 minutes left in the contest. Flanagan allowed three goals and collected two saves in that time.
The Titans will return to action when they travel to New York to face Niagara on Friday, Mar. 26 at 7 p.m.
