Titans Take Fourth, Byrne & Pronk Tie For Seventh

Final Results

It was a soggy day out on the course but the final round was completed with Detroit's men's golf team earning fourth, out of 15 teams, at the Ball State Cardinal Classic, held at Sultan's Run Golf Club in Jasper, IN.

The fourth-place effort was the fifth top 5 performance by the Titans on the season in just six tournaments.

Detroit finished with a three-round total of 899 (295, 301, 303), just 10 strokes off the lead behind Evansville, Bowling Green and Eastern Kentucky. The Titans did finish ahead of four Horizon League teams in Youngstown State, Wright State, Cleveland State and Valparaiso as well as in-state foe Oakland.

Individually, senior David Byrne (Essex, ON/Essex) and junior Britt Pronk (London, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas) both placed in the top 10 by tying for seventh with a 221 score. Byrne carded a 76 in the final round after a 71-74 on Saturday, while Pronk shot a three-over 75 on Sunday after day one's 74-72 showing.

Junior Jeff Clarridge (Barrie, ON/Bear Creek) was just four strokes behind Byrne and Pronk to take a share of 19th place with a 225 total, after equaling his pair of 75's on Saturday with another today.

The Titans will return to the links next Saturday with another trip to the Hoosier state, this time by playing in Indiana's adidas Hoosier Invitational on April 3-4.
