Five different UDM players scored and goalie Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) made 15 saves in net against her hometown team, but visiting Cincinnati still pulled out a come-from-behind victory in its first game of the young women's lacrosse season, defeating Detroit at Titan Field on Friday, 10-6.
Detroit (2-3) actually took a 2-0 lead in the first 14 minutes of the non-conference contest, as Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) converted an Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) pass for the first tally of the game before Madison Noland (Dallas, TX/J.J. Pearce) notched Detroit's second strike. Cincinnati would run off three straight goals before Lindsey Saunders (Pasadena, MD/Northeast) could respond at the 8:48 mark to even the game at 3-all
UC quickly had another reply. This time, the Bearcats of the Big East clicked off four straight tallies to take a 7-3 lead into intermission.
The Titans made another run, closing their deficit to 7-5 in the first 10 minutes of the second half as Eidem and Erin Campbell (Orangeville, ON/Orangeville District) scored back-to-back, but UC responded once again to salt away a four-goal victory. Katie Kiriazoglou and MacKenzie Parsons each scored two goals to lead the Cincinnati offense.
Cincinnati outshot the Titans, 34-15, testing Yenger throughout the contest. UC had a slight advantage in ground balls, 52-51.
Detroit now hits the road for a three-game slate in California, beginning Tuesday when the Titans will square off against St. Mary's.
