Box Score (in pdf)

Detroit's women's lacrosse team played in its first of three games in California on Tuesday at St. Mary's and fell by a score of 21-15 at Saint Mary's Stadium.

UDM sophomore Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) scored a game-high six goals and also dished out one assist in the loss, while sophomore Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) found the back of the net four times versus the Gaels. Freshman Zaynib Hamze (Dublin, CA/Dublin) scored two, while sophomore Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON/Anderson CVI), along with freshmen Erin Campbell (Orangeville, ON/Orangeville District Secondary) and Lindsey Saunders (Pasadena, MD/Northeast), all scored one goal for the Titans on Tuesday.

Campbell's goal came just under seven minutes into the game after SMC scored the first four goals of the afternoon. Eidem netted one of her goals off a free position shot to help pull Detroit within four, 10-6, at the break. UDM tallied three straight goals in the middle of the second stanza, all of which came from Boissonneault, with the last off a free position shot to cut the deficit to 16-12 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the contest. Hamze scored an unassisted goal at even strength at 4:16 to shrink the Gaels' lead to three (18-15), but that was the closest the Titans would get to SMC the remainder of the game.

Sophomore Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) played all 60 minutes in net for the Titans and collected 18 saves. SMC split up its goalkeeping duties as freshman Kathleen Worsdale played the first half and earned the win after giving up five goals and saving five of Detroit's shots, while junior Whitney Campitiello was in net the second half and allowed 10 Titan goals and tallied four saves.

The Titans will return to action when they play at Fresno State on Thursday at 7 p.m.
