TUSCALOOSA, Ala.--  JaMychal Green scored 21 points to lead No. 16/15 Alabama past Detroit, 62-54, at the Coleman Coliseum Sunday night in non-conference action.

The Titans (5-7) couldn't finish at the rim off the tip, missing their first 11 shots to start the contest as Alabama (8-2) got out to a 12-1 lead.  Detroit's first field goal didn't come until the 13:33 mark on a Jason Calliste runner.

The Tide defense, which has held opponents to 55 points per game this season, limited Detroit to just 22 first-half points as the home team held a 38-22 lead at the break.  Green was 6-of-7 for 12 points and had five rebounds in the opening 20 minutes.

"I'm disappointed in our slow start but I think Alabama had a lot to do with it," Detroit Head Coach Ray McCallum said.  "Coming in here, we knew it was going to be a tough environment with them coming off of two losses. They made a change in the lineup. I think they got their players attention and they came out focused and ready to go."

The Titans trailed by as many as 22 in the opening half, but finished the half with the final six points and went on a 6-2 run to start the second half.  The deficit worked its way down to nine but later seven straight Tide points helped put the game away.  The Titans cut it to eight at the buzzer, but got no closer.

Sophomore Ray McCallum led the Titans with 13 points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.  Doug Anderson added 12 points while Chase Simon added 10.  Eli Holman had nine points and nine rebounds and LaMarcus Lowe led all players with 10 rebounds.

Detroit breaks for finals week and will host No. 17/18 Mississippi State at Calihan Hall Saturday, Dec. 17 at noon.  The game will be televised live on FOX Sports Detroit HD.  Episode two of this season's "Detroit Titan Court Report" will premiere at 11:30 a.m. prior to the game telecast and will re-air immediately following the game.

Note: Detroit went 0-for-12 from three-point range, it's first time since a Feb. 27, 2010 game at Youngstown State without a make ... The Titans' 18 offensive rebounds were a season high.
