DETROIT -- The women's lacrosse team hosted Trine University this past Saturday at Titan Field for their first scrimmage of the 2011 season. Detroit battled through the cold weather to defeat the Thunder 20-2.

Every player had the opportunity to enter the game on Saturday. The offense obviously played well by recording 20 goals, yet the defense was equally impressive by only allowing two. Marybeth Flanagan (Lansing, MI, Waverly) was the goalkeeper for all 60 minutes. Flanagan made multiple saves which is a good sign of things to come for Detroit.

The Titans were able to work well as a unit against Trine. They will try to take all the positives from Saturday into the season opener later this month against Canisius. The Canisius matchup will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Titan Field. Detroit will host yet another home game against UC Davis the following weekend before traveling to Cincinnati on March 11.
