Box Score

FARMVILLE, Va. – The women's lacrosse team was defeated by the Longwood Lancers on Sunday afternoon by the final score of 20-4. Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON, Anderson CVI) and Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON, Donald A. Wilson Secondary) each scored two goals for the Titans.

Detroit (1-6, 0-2 NLC) scored two goals in the first half, and two in the second half. Boissonneault now has 20 goals on the year, while Mahorn increased her total to 10.

Longwood had 11 different players score on Sunday. Jamie Brentlinger led the Lancers with four goals, and Jess Rudloff added a hat trick to pace Longwood. Amanda Bereznay, Sam Stifler, Cara O'Brien, and Lauren Prasnicki all scored two goals against Detroit.

Mahorn got the Titans on the scoreboard with a free position goal at the 24:35 mark in the first half. Boissonneault pulled Detroit within one goal of Longwood at the 19:11 mark as her unassisted goal made the game 3-2 early. The Lancers defense would hold Detroit scoreless from that point on as they enjoyed an 11-2 lead at the half.

The second half was much like the first. The Lancers came out and scored the first four goals of the half, and Mahorn snapped their streak with a goal near the 16 minute mark. Detroit's final goal of the game came eight minutes later from Boissonneault.

Marybeth Flanagan (Lansing, MI, Waverly) was the goalkeeper for Detroit. She ended the game with seven saves. The Lancers used two keepers on Sunday with Juli Liebig getting the start, and Alicia McCarty coming in for the final 20 minutes of action.
