Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar Release

NORMAN, Okla. -- One of the highest academic honors for collegiate golfers was announced today with senior Jeff Clarridge (Barrie, ON/Bear Creek) receiving the accolade as the 2011 Titan MVP was named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars Team.

Clarridge – who made the prestigious academic squad for the second straight year - was one of only 138 Division I recipients and one of only two players in the Horizon League to be recognized, along with Kent Monas of Cleveland State.

Clarridge enjoyed his best collegiate season as a senior, leading the Titans with a 75.2 stroke average while earning All-Horizon League accolade. He was in the top 10 four times, taking runner-up at the PGA Village Invitational, third at the Titans Invitational and tying for third in the Bruce Fossum Invitational. He then earned his degree in Business Administration from Detroit in May, graduating with a 3.82 GPA.

The award is given out by the Golf Coaches Association of America. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II and III and 3.5 in NAIA. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
