KALAMAZOO, Mich. (10/17/12) - The University of Detroit Mercy men's soccer team went on the road and defeated Western Michigan, 2-1, on Wednesday afternoon. The game was played at Kalamazoo College due to field conditions at WMU.

Freshman Jason Leslie scored the equalizer and junior Patrick Soltys netted the game-winner with just over five minutes left to play to give Detroit (7-6-0) the victory over Western Michigan (9-4-2). The win was the second in a row and the fifth in the last seven games for the Titans.

The Titans jumped out in front with just over five minutes left in the game as Adam Bedell fired a shot off the crossbar and Soltys was on the doorstep to give the Titans the go-ahead marker amongst the chaos.

UDM got on the board at the 75:29 mark as Vicente Jaramillo passed the ball from the top of the penalty box to Bedell on the left side. Bedell crossed the ball to Leslie, who headed it to the back post to beat the keeper, giving him his first collegiate goal and tying the game at one apiece.

WMU countered minutes after, but the Co-Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week Nathan Steinwascher made a pair of diving saves to keep the game even. He would finish with two saves on the day and now has 58 on the year.

The Broncos took an early 1-0 lead as they scored on a penalty kick taken less than two minutes into the game.

UDM will return to Horizon League play when the Titans host Valparaiso on Sunday at 3:00 p.m., at Titan Field.
